MinMax helps you find fast-food meals near you that fit a calorie cap. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over your data. It describes MinMax 2.0 for iPhone and iPad and the website eatminmax.com.
The MinMax app is operated by KGH Analytics LLC ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@eatminmax.com.
When you grant permission, when you choose a place with Set a location, or when you search the area shown on the map, the app sends that point's coordinates to our server to find fast-food chains nearby. Our server passes the coordinates to Amazon Location Service to look up restaurants and does not store them. To answer the next nearby search quickly, it keeps the restaurant results for up to 24 hours in memory, under a map cell rounded to roughly 1.1 km (0.7 mi). That record holds no coordinates of yours and no device or user identifier, and it is never written to disk.
Unless you have excluded your usage from analytics (see Analytics), that request also carries the app's analytics identifier so the search can be counted. The count records how many chains were found and how long it took. Your coordinates are never added to it.
When you type in Set a location, the text you type is sent to Amazon Location Service to suggest matching places. If the app already has your location, it is included so nearby matches come first. Otherwise the app includes the point the map is showing (or the middle of the United States, if the map has no point yet) and limits results to the United States. This request carries no identifier of ours.
The app downloads updated menu data and chain logos from eatminmax.com, and those requests carry no identifier of ours.
MinMax has no account and no daily log. The app keeps these on your device:
Only your usuals and hidden restaurants are synced, and only if you're signed into iCloud. They go to your private iCloud key-value storage so your devices match. Everything else in this list stays on the device where you set it. We cannot see any of this data, on your device or in your iCloud.
If the app hits an error, it keeps a short note of the error and the last few things the app did, on your device only. MinMax does not use a crash-reporting service and never uploads this note. You see it on the error screen, or in a notice the next time you open the app, and it leaves your device only if you tap Copy details and send it to us yourself.
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. The app sends events such as searches, taps on an order, Directions, I'm going, Copy, swaps, and opening a sheet. Events include the chains involved, your calorie cap and ranking, the calories of the order involved, the menu items you add, remove or swap, and timings. We do not send your coordinates, the places you search for, your name, email, or any contact details.
These events are tied to a random identifier that PostHog creates when the app is installed and to Apple's identifier for vendor, which is specific to MinMax on your device. We have no way to connect either identifier to your name or to an account, and neither is the Advertising Identifier (IDFA). PostHog also records basic device information (device model, iOS version, app version, screen size, language and time zone), app opens and closes, and an approximate city and country it estimates from your IP address.
To stop sending analytics, open the app → menu → About & privacy → turn on Exclude my usage from analytics. This setting stays on this device only.
The website eatminmax.com uses cookieless PostHog analytics: it counts page views and clicks on the app-download buttons, sets no cookies, keeps nothing in your browser between visits, does no cross-site tracking, and builds no profile of you.
MinMax shows one ad: a single native ad as the last row of the nearby results list, from Google AdMob. Every request is for non-personalized (contextual) ads. The app never asks for permission to track you, does not read the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and does not show ads based on a profile of your activity across other apps or websites. Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form may first ask for your choices.
To deliver the ad, limit how often you see the same one, measure it, and prevent fraud, Google receives limited technical data: an identifier scoped to this app or developer, your approximate region estimated from your IP address, whether the ad was seen or tapped, and basic diagnostic and performance data from its ad software. MinMax sends no notifications.
We use the following service providers strictly to power the app:
Maps and directions use Apple Maps. To show a short name for your location, such as a neighborhood or city, the app uses Apple's geocoding service built into iOS. When you tap Directions, the restaurant's location is handed to the Apple Maps app.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your data for personalized advertising or to track you across other apps or websites. The only advertising-related sharing is the limited, non-personalized technical data described above.
MinMax is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we'll address it.
The app is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
